My Future Husband

I want to start off by saying Adam is amazing. As the wedding gets closer, I have found myself looking more closely at the married couples around me and it already makes me realizes what a good man I am marrying.
Adam is not hesitant to help me with anything. He doesnt mind cooking dinner, he actually enjoys it. Breakfast is definitely his thing to cook for me. If laundry needs done, he goes to the laundry room and does it. If the house needs vaccummed or dusted or anything, he might not be the first to start but if I point it out or start on it he quickly starts to help me. One thing I cannot do is mop, bc pinesol makes me sick. He makes a point to do it when he knows I wont be there.
He is very thoughtful and knows that him doing things around the house for me speaks loudly. He also knows that I am not the traditional house wife. I will quickly tell him if he is hungry he knows where the kitchen is and if he has no socks clean then he needs to do laundry. It's not that I am mean, its just that i hate the customs of how people lived in the "old" days. he is just as capable of doing those things as i am.
He is definitely not lazy and I love that. He goes to work and works hard, he doesnt have a desk job or stare at a computer all day...he physically works..HARD. Then he comes home and helps me with anything I want and doesnt mind. The other day I got home from Memphis and he had went and got mulch for the flower beds..most men would just wait until the wife said something and nagged him about going to get it and finally do it late spring. My man knew it needed to be done and just did it..no problem. He will also go grocery shopping with me. He would actually rather i wait until he can go with me. Maybe its because he wants to make sure i dont spend $500 at walmart..I dont care I like to have him there by my side.
I love that he is a "manly man" but also not afraid to do the "womanly duties". He doesnt look at house work as my job and outside work as his job. They are both our jobs. I love that he has ideas for projects and how to make our place look better. I love that he likes to keep our place looking nice and just cares about what we do have. I love that I can count on him to keep up with when our vehicles need maintenced and he does it instead of us taking it somewhere and paying for it.
I may nag him about some things he does that really aggravate me but who doesnt have those? Our relationship would be boring if everything about us was perfect.

The most important and biggest thing I love about Adam Shelley is that he loves me. He loves me pretty, he loves me ugly, he loves me mad, he loves me happy, he loves me for me and all of me no matter what. He puts up with me and that says so much! He can handle my moods, he can handle my "jokes" he can handle my non affection..which im working on. He can handle anything about me. And at my absolute maddest he is the only one that can handle it. And he can understand me. We are so different but yet so much alike. We are definitly the compliment to each other.

When they say the one will come to you when youre least expecting it, they're right. We started dating when both of us least expected it and we absolutely could not be happier! I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life as Mrs. Emily Shelley and start a little Shelley family with this man!!

Some Checks off "The List"

Today Adam was getting really excited about the Honeymoon and decided to research a little about what all we are going to be able to do while there. ...I think its bc he realizes im going to be happy just laying out on the beach all day everyday and he doesnt want to do that. So we got on the Sandals website and started looking at all the restuarants, massages, and activities to do. We somehow clicked somewhere and there was a spot where you can register your honeymoon so people can contribute if they would like instead of buying you a wedding gift. We had asked our travel agent this before and she acted like the only thing we could do was the ones you have to pay for online that arent affiliated with Sandals. Anyways, we figured it out and yes we know most people have already got us a gift but we thought what the heck any little bit will help! So, if you want to check it out:

Today, I took Casey, my brother, to get fitted for his tux. He was the last one of all the guys..imagine that. Of course all the little boys still have to get fitted but they get to wait till a little bit closer to the wedding. I also got our minister aka my future brother in law his gift for being apart of our special day. That's two more checks off my long list of to dos! Tomorrow all us girls are going shopping. Im going to be focused on getting me some cute summer clothes for the honeymoon. Ive been to the mall about 4 times in the last couple weeks and my goal each time was to find honeymoon clothes and I always got sidetracked. Tomorrow I will be coming home with something!

WEEKEND NEWS

By this weekend everyone should've received their wedding invitation! Yay! Getting those mailed out really made this whole thing feel really real. Not that it hasnt felt real...but now everyone has an invitation on their refrigerator and making plans to come (i hope). Getting them out of my possession was also a big relief, they stressed me out when they were sitting on the coffee table staring at me!

I have to brag just a little on Adam. I dont want him getting an even bigger head but he has really been helpful planning this wedding. He helped me stuff, seal, and stamp every invitation and response card. He has also helped me do many many more things. He made our save the dates, help me stuff, seal, and stamp those. He has gone with me to pick out many things..not that i always used his opinion...but it was nice to have him there. He has also went to any consultation that we have had. The list goes on and on.. I know I am very lucky to be marrying such a man. I just cant say that alot...he already thinks he is wonderful bc of the things my family tells him..I cant let him know I see it all too!! :) jk I love you Adam.

This weekend we did something else that made it real..we paid off our honeymoon!! I think I might be a little more excited about that then the wedding!! :) We are going to the Bahamas for a whole week. We are staying at the Sandals resort and I absolutely cannot wait!! It was a little more than we had first said that we would pay but I mean I kept thinkin...you only get married once and go on a honeymoon once. More than likely we probably wont ever go back to the Bahamas...why not enjoy it as much as we can! We will definitely need a 5 gallon bucket full of spf 100 for Adam to take but like I said "we" are going to LOVE it!! ok, maybe if it was all up to Adam we wouldnt be going somewhere hot...we'd be going to Alaska or something. But once again he is so great to me...he knows I would be miserable somewhere cold and Bahamas is Paradise to me! So he is going to enjoy it as much as he can...I mean he will be with me so he will be fine...ill get him a jumbo umbrella for the beach!! :)

Oh this weekend I bought a Rowenta Steamer!! I am so excited! Im going to be steaming everything when I figure out how to use it. I bought it bc I needed a couple dresses steamed and also my wedding dress. But I dont feel comfortable sending my wedding gown to the cleaners and just letting anyone do it and if I took it anywhere else it would cost me atleast $100 to get it done. So I just spent that money on a steamer and now I can do it myself and make sure it is taken care of! So if you need anything steamed just let me know!! haha Im sure I will be doing alot of ppl's for the wedding!

On another note, today is day light savings..we sprung forward. Adam and I forgot..stayed up till 12 last night (really 1) and woke up at 9:30 (really 10:30) this morning. We missed church and my whole day seemed to be off schedule! Now its 10pm and im not feeling too tired and Adam is snoring away..guess I better get off here and try to sleep so I can get my body used to this new time!

50 Days!

I started a blog before when I was in college and to be honest...not too much exciting was going on in my life so I never really got into it. I wish as soon as Adam and I got engaged i wouldve started this so I would have something to look back on and remember all the exciting stressful moments while planning this wedding. That is why I am doing this now. We have 50 days until we exchange vows and I want to remember these next 50 days for the rest of my life!

Today we got our wedding favors in. I didnt want to spend a lot of money on something everyone was going to leave in their cars for a couple of weeks after the wedding then just throw away. Adam personally didnt want favors at all. But I saw these lollipops in one of the many wedding magazines I get almost daily and I thought they were just too cute. We got aqua (which looks more like light blue) and ruby red. They will add a little more color and decoration to the reception and I dont see it as a big waste of money, bc they were really reasonable and they wont be thrown away...hopefully theyll be ate! I think im going to put them on the table right by the door for our guests to grab after they sign our frame. - That's another thing, the signature frame. We ordered one a couple nights ago and I cant wait for it to come it. Those things are expensive! We just got out of one of the "famous" wedding magazines. It was pretty reasonable after looking at the prices online. They can cost hundreds of dollars. My philosophy on that is, more than likely after the wedding im not going to be putting that frame on the wall in the living room or anything. Probably go in the guest room and when we decide to have little Shelley babies, the guest room will be the nursery and the frame will be put into a box or attic or something. But I think it will be cool to have when im old and grey and can show my Shelley babies when they get married! :) and I think it will be a neat thing at the reception.

Other stuff going on with the wedding:
We had a Handyman Party this past weekend, it was a lot of fun. The funniest thing was Adam got about 10 lights, wrenches, and pry bars that he registered for...obviously Wal-Mart doesnt know how to take it off the registry and Adam ended up with alot of the same. It was really funny though!

Next weekend is my Bridal Shower. It is the only one I am having so I hope pretty much everyone we invited can come! Im really excited. I hate the awkwardness of opening presents with everyone looking at you though. I mean more than likely I registered for the gift so its not that big of suprise...so am I supposed to act suprised and be like omg how did you know I wanted this!! or just open, smile, say thank you and go to the next...yeah that's the proper way I think. :) Anyways, shopping for a dress for this festivity has been a chore in its self. I like to think im not picky but I guess I am. Really the stores just dont seem to have much this season other than "stepford wives" dresses...that's what I call them. You know the white sun dresses with floral print on them. Some are cute but this year that is  just not my thing. So go figure I finally found a dress and anyone who knows me well knows I love me some black shirts so it was no suprise that the dress I got is black and white. But it is really cute. Or atleast I think it is. I also got a dress for my bridesmaids luncheon and rehearsal...they are black and white too :) I figure I will have enough color at the wedding and reception to make up for the lack of at the festivities!! lol

Tomorrow I am going with my future mother in law (Pamela) to Charlenes Tea Room in Halls, TN. This is where we are having the bridesmaids luncheon. We are going to check out the room we will be in and see what kind of centerpieces we need to get if any. We have a preset menu so im hoping my bridesmaids wont be picky that day and just enjoy what I picked. I think it will be nice.

One thing no one ever told me about planning/getting married is how much money you spend on stamps! geeze! I mean stamps are 44 cents right now. We had to get 200 for save the dates, 200 for wedding invitations, 50 for handyman invitation, around 40 for thank yous for the holiday shower, 25 for handyman thank yous, then I will have to get who knows how many for bridal shower thank yous and all the wedding thank yous...you do the math...it's A LOT for stamps. Brides should put this in the budget. I didnt, it didnt even cross my mind.

Im glad I am a person who knows pretty much what I like and what I want. Decisions are HARD! Especially when you have to make so many in such a short amount of time! I do second guess myself but on most of it, I know what I want. The invitations were the hardest for me. I wanted something plain/ traditional but with a little bit of my personality and I couldnt seem to find it anywhere! I finally decided on somethin with the help of Adam and Bonnie...but that whole day I ordered them I second guessed myself and was worried. Im glad my sister didnt have a big wedding like this. Im sure I would be her maid of honor and she would prolly demote me! haha she cannot and I mean can not make a decision...it drives me crazy. We can go shopping and she will have a whole hand full of clothes in her hand and by the time we get to the register she has maybe one shirt. It's crazy. But that's her. I love you Bonnie ;)

Since June 16, 2010 my life has been this crazy wedding maddness...I cant wait to see how these last 50 days play out. I will try my hardest to stay comical about it and not let myself get too stressed and not enjoy this wonderful wonderful time in my life! Hopefully one day I will look back on this and laugh but remember this great time and experience I am going through.
